You know how you buy an iPod and a month later a new iPod Touch is released? I always remember how my father came back home somewhere in the 90's from a business trip to the far East carrying a weird looking box with the label VCD on it. Yes, Video CD. It was somewhere between the laser disc and DVD. Of course that we used it for a month and then watched all our friends buying cool DVD players which lasted, well, a couple of years until Blue-Ray hit the market. It seems that you just can't follow up with technology. Even if you buy the latest, greatest, and bestest product out there - it will probably be old news in a couple of months. So what can you do about it? Nothing really. One possibility is to stay on top of technology news. Many times we know about a new technology months before it's available on the market, so we can be ready. If you are planning to buy a TV and you know that in 6 months a revolutionary TV technology will be available - then you better wait patie ntly.A good example is the Bluetooth technology. We're all buying phones and smart phones and computers and whatever technology that's got the Bluetooth in it, more specifically Bluetooth 2.0 which allows us data transfer of 3 megabits per second. Truth is, that not so long ago, Bluetooth introduced the world with a new technology - Bluetooth (guess what?) 3.0 which is 160 times faster than BT2. It is so fast, that you will be able to transfer your entire music or movie collection in a matter of seconds - wirelessly. You can send video files, music files, and images at great speed and with data security. So say goodbye to USB cables or Wi-Fi networks. Bluetooth company promises better sound, no disconnections due to placing phone in a bag or a pocket, and better battery life. But you can expect many technical issues while upgrading to BT3. Just like when you bought that DVD player and found yourselves stuck with hundreds of useless video cassettes, Bluetooth 3.0 isn't going to make your life easier. First of all, you will have to buy a new and probably expensive cell phone that supports the technology. Remember that if your friend's phone does not support the BT3 you will not be able to communicate. So, should you wait for the new Bluetooth 3.0 before you buy a new cell phone? If you really need a new phone and you need it now - don't wait. Bluetooth introduced the new technology just a couple of weeks ago and it will take around nine months until it will hit the cellular market. Will it hurt when you discover that your new phone does not support the new Bluetooth technology that all your friends got - you bet!
